Bakery 105 Wedding: A Magical and Unforgettable Wedding Venue

There is something so positively magical about industrial weddings. With these spaces, you get the chance to take something so primal and ordinary, add your own beauty, and walk away with something that is positively unforgettable. As a North Carolina wedding photographer, I have been lucky enough to tour some of the best wedding venues in the area, and I am here to tell you about my favorites. If you are on the search for a one-of-a-kind wedding venue, I would love to tell you why a Bakery 105 wedding might be perfect for you.

About The Bakery 105 Wedding Venue

105 Orange Street, Wilmington, North Carolina 28401

Bakery 105 is a historic wedding venue that dates back to the Roaring 20s. When the building first opened, it served as a cornerstone of the American Bakeries complex. While the space has since been repurposed, you will still find plenty of the original touches, including the shop sign in the courtyard and the faded brick within the building. Today, the venue is owned by 128 South and gives you plenty of ways to plan a wedding that is truly unlike any other

Details of the Grounds

The Bakery 105 venue has two distinct places you can use for your wedding day. For an outdoor wedding, you can get married in the Garden Courtyard in the center of the ivy-draped walls. For an indoor wedding, you can use the Main Building with exposed brick walls and brick floors.

Both the ceremony spaces can be transformed into reception areas. They give you the ability to tent the courtyard for a climate-controlled reception. For an indoor reception, you can bring in a dance floor and celebrate in the Main Building. The Bakery 105 wedding venue can accommodate up to 200 people for a banquet reception and 150 people for a seated dinner.

The landing outside the Main Building leading into the Garden Courtyard is the ideal space to set up a cocktail bar. Your guests can move between the spaces while enjoying signature drinks. The venue allows you to rent out a bridal suite for your day. You can get ready at The Cottage on Orange Street before heading down the street for your wedding.

The interior of the building boasts a white ceiling with a crystal chandelier. You can add curtains to the sides to make the space more intimate. Mismatched bricks with faded plaster add character. Outside, you will still find the shop sign with ivy-draped walls. A brick fence adds privacy from the rest of the city, while bistro lights illuminate the space.

Photography Opportunities

For your Bakery 105 wedding portraits, the yard in front of The Cottage is the perfect space. You will be able to walk down Orange Street and get couples’ portraits. The sign on the exterior of the building is a fantastic opportunity for a group picture.
